Hingi developed a system that connects to all relevant TV channels and radio stations, monitors their broadcast, and recognizes the transmitted song in real time.
The following outlines the user experience service flow:
1. The user listens to a radio broadcast or TV channel (e.g. MTV or BBC 1), and she hears a cool or interesting song.
2. She does not have to know the name of the performer or even the song; all she needs do is send an SMS with the station name (e.g. MTV or BBC 1) to a known short code number.
3. Within seconds, she will receive the last few played songs, along with a link offering her purchase-related content: ringtone, true-tone, download capacity, a video clip, and any other operation related to the song.
Market Opportunity
Mobile music services are the most valuable mobile content market globally, generating gross revenue of $6.7 Billion in 2006 and $14 billion by 2011 (source: Juniper Research). Given this growth forecast, Hingi services face a market potential of hundreds of millions of dollars in the US only.
